ABOUT
Zipporah

Zipporah Cunningham is an African American multimedia surrealist artist who grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. In 2022, she earned her BFA in Studio Art with an emphasis in illustration and a minor in graphic design from Webster University. Though she works with various mediums, her favorites are graphite, watercolor, and acrylic. Each of her pieces tells a story within her unique creative universe, and regardless of the medium, her works are designed to have an illustrative quality. She employs a bold, colorful palette to create the illusion of a joyful environment, even when the subject matter carries a deep or somber theme, drawing in her audience through this contrast. Her style is a surrealistic blend of realism, fantasy, and two-dimensional flat work.

In her artistic practice, Miss Cunningham has extensive experience working in diverse art spaces. She has taught drawing classes, hosted paint-and-sip events, led craft workshops, illustrated children’s books, completed commissions, and showcased her work in art exhibitions.
